Below you can read about the changes for the July update (5.4.0.527). At the top, we highlight some important changes. Below that, you will find the complete list of changes and fixes.
- Video calling in Messenger is possible again. New actions have also been added that you can use to set up video calling in Messenger according to your preferences.
- Select the camera, microphone and speakers you want to use during (video) calls.
- The pitch of the voices can now be adjusted in the settings. This allows you to adjust your voice and make it even more unique. It also offers the possibility to choose a voice with a higher intonation in languages where no child’s voice is available. Go to Menu > Settings > Speech > Pitch.
- The ‘Go to profile’ action has been added. This allows you as a user to go from one document to another profile. This means you no longer have to go via Menu > Switch profile. This simplifies switching between different calendars or mailboxes.

New
- More calibration options for Alea’s eye tracker. It is now possible to perform calibration using one eye, but both eyes are tracked.
- The ‘stop sound and action’ action now also stops auditory feedback.
- New script function added: addpage(fineGrained).
- CEF update: content from certain websites that were not previously supported within the ME5 internet application is now displayed (e.g. Messenger, YouTube).
- Video calling via Messenger works again (due to the CEF update).
- Settings for Messenger conversations added: actions added to select the camera, speakers and microphone you use during a (video) conversation.
- Social media (Messenger & WhatsApp) adjustments. Additional actions added to download media.
- Voice pitch is now adjustable Menu > Settings > Speech > Pitch.
- Action ‘Go to profile’ has been added. This allows you as a user to go from one pageset to another profile.
Fixes
- It is now again possible to perform a manual calibration with the Hiru eye tracker from Irisbond.
- All eye control settings are now exported (including calibration and selection) when you export the profile. Menu > settings > my profile > export profile.
- Integration of the Tobii update: improved outdoor use of the eye tracker.
- Optimisation of mouse movement (now runs more smoothly) with Alea’s NXT eye tracker in combination with InControl and games.
- The issue with the eye tracking monitor, which sometimes remained visible when it was not needed, has been resolved.
- Problem with the ‘Stop Audio’ action (e.g. in MaximEyes) resolved.
- The Zoom Click action now continues to run correctly after minimising (in InControl).
- Scanning resumes again after playing a video.
- Problem with scanning in the portal has been resolved.
- The portal’s search function is now read aloud during scanning with auditory feedback.
- The issue when reading a sentence where there is a pause after the first word (only for sentences typed letter by letter) has now been resolved.
- Saving a message in a cell now also keeps track of the language information. This ensures that it is pronounced correctly when spoken.
- Code switching now works correctly in the message box. Specifically, when different speech actions in different languages are spoken one after the other, they are now spoken in the correct order.
- Spaces no longer disappear in saved messages (sentences or phrases) from a message set.
- In edit mode, a video is now paused correctly.
- The countdown clock (of the timer) is now displayed correctly and you can change its colour.
- The timer now continues to run and performs the assigned action when you switch pages.
- The portal is no longer seen as a pageset in the doclock version of Mind Express.
- Problem with dragging files in the portal resolved. With a folder, the black arrow remained when you moved over the folder.
- File import has been optimised, reducing the time it takes to import.
- The phone pop-up window, which could not be closed, no longer appears during scanning.
- The phone pop-up window no longer appears when you make a call with an iPhone.
- Problem with reading the date aloud has now been resolved.
