Adding symbols to Mind Express 5

Standard and optional symbol sets

Within Mind Express 5, you can use a lot of symbol sets. Some sets are:

• unlimited availability in specific languages (e.g. Arasaac, SCLERA, Bliss)
• unlimited availability in specific licenses and languages (e.g. SymbolStix (certain types of Jabbla voice computers), PCS sets (certain EDU licenses))
• to request (e.g. PCS, Widgit, Beta, Picto, PictureThis).

Jabbla and its partners endeavor to provide you Mind Express 5 as ordered by you. Notice that a certain symbol set is not visible?  If so, please follow the steps below.

 

Step 1:

Make sure the symbol set is activated and available on your device. You can check this via Menu > Settings > System > License.

• Is the symbol set not activated? Contact your local partner to extend your license.
• Is the symbol set activated, but not available? Follow the steps below to add the symbol set to your Mind Express.

 

Illustration: below you can see that Arasaac is activated, but not yet available.

 

Step 2:

• Is the symbol set not found (not available), but activated? Proceed to step 3.
• Is the symbol set found and activated? Continue to step 6, to further search for the absent, desired symbol set in your document(s).

 

 

Step 3:

Install the -activated, but not found- symbol set.

• Attention: close Mind Express, before installing the symbol set.
• Click on the link of your desired symbol set:

  • Click on this link to download the Beta symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the Bliss symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the Metacom symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the Mulberry symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PCS symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PCS Black/White symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PCS-High Contrast symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PCS-Thin Line symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PCS-InContext symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the Picto symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the PictureThis symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the SCLERA symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the SymbolStix symbols.
  • Click on this link to download the Widgit symbols.

 

 

A) Open the file via explorer under downloads (double-click).

C:\users\currentuser\Downloads

B) Follow the installation procedure.

Step 4:

Open Mind Express 5 after installation.

 

 

Step 5:

Check that the symbol set is now listed among the available options.

 

 

Step 6:

If the symbol set is activated and installed, but you still don’t see the symbols, you may still need to make an adjustment to your document (A) or your entire ME5 system (B).

 

A) Go to the document where you want to use the symbols. Go to Menu > Edit (F2) > Image window > Select symbol sets.

 

Select the desired symbol set and press OK.

 

 

B) Go -for new and own documents- to the system settings of your Mind Express: go to Menu > Settings > System > Choose symbol sets. Check, whether the desired symbol set(s) are definitely checked.
