One of the major differences between Mind Express 4 and Mind Express 5 is that there is no longer a media library in the new version. This simplification solves a number of problems, such as:
- If you deleted a document from ME4, the figures remained in the Media Library, which meant an incredible amount of data over time.
- If you reused a mediabib-figure of person A (accidentally or consciously) with person B, you could come across person A’s personal information in person B’s document management (cfr. when exporting/importing documents, taking other persons’ names with them).
But what if you want a shared media library in Mind Express 5?
Media library workaround: sharing photos and images in Mind Express 5
It might be interesting to have a central location on the computer:
- create an ME5 page per class/league group/home with pictures and correct names, or
- create separate ME5 pages around different themes/categories (e.g. concrete material for an activity)
so that this material can be created only once and then imported into the desired documents of specific users.
Do you already have a lot of photographic material in ME4? Then you can do some preparatory work in ME4.
Create the pages in Mind Express 4 and fill them quickly (select all cells + F4 key):
1. So that your ME4 media lib photos are placed in individual cells in a ME4 document.
2. This ME4 document can then be imported into ME5.
3. So you can get your photos already in ME5 and then import/export individual ME5 pages into the desired ME5 documents.
Benefits
- No need to select each image per document via the “select image”-window > “from disk”.
- This way, all photos that you imported -by importing the desired page- are immediately in your gallery.
- So in ME you can type into an empty selected cell and it will be filled automatically as in ME4.
